About Me

You are better off trying to wrap your mind around whom Billy "BAD BOY" LeRoy really is, as opposed to wrapping any other body part around him. It was my unique pleasure to interview Billy shortly after his bout with Igor .  Billy entered this world June 1st, 1982 to greet his Mother Julie Blacklance Leroy(Riebold) and his Father Victor Nelson LeRoy, and to be introduced later to older brother Victor Jr. A family justifiably proud of their Lakota Indian heritage. Life comes easy for no-one, Billy's is no exception, growing up things happen we all wish could be avoided but those issues prove only to make us stronger. With alcohol being the norm, it should surprise no one that Billy's life was impacted by it as well. Well remembered by all are the "Beer Muscles" displayed on occasion by Billy's mom. With a long line of Veterans within the families rank its no wonder Billy learned the benefits of disciplining himself early on. Grandpa Eugene served in Korea, a Army Specialist, his father Victor and several Uncles proudly carried the title US Marine, drawing from as focused and determined lineage as that how could those qualities not be passed down. Life would continue to challenge Billy as best it could, through out his childhood other societal ills would make there mark on his life, this was not all negative, due to his mother Julie's remarrying, Billy was blessed with a sister Shawndae, so just remember hard times can result in good things.
It was not just the military background that produced the determination, drive and discipline still evident in Billy's life. Coming from a family of avid football players helped as well. The natural progression is almost obvious, Billy applied almost everything he learned from his family to everything he puts his mind to. This would soon prove to be a benefit to Todd County High School in Mission City, South Dakota, where Billy proved himself to be stand out student-athlete. High School sports only seemed to entrench the characteristics of success into this young man, Billy was able to claim high honors as a Triple A Student, setting some marks that have yet to be broken. Billy's High School sports resume includes holding an unbroken Shot Put record, as a member of the Track & Field Team Billy also threw discus. Patience, it does not end here. The natural abilities finding their way to the surface would soon push Billy to excel in Football as well as weight lifting. With Billy's dedication to excellence in weight training and football, the normal cohesiveness enjoyed by these two sports proved to propel this star athlete to unexpected levels. Proof of this resides in consecutive titles for Left Offensive Guard, All Conference and All State for two years. I asked Billy if fisticuffs were a regular issues during High School. The answer was relatively surprising, and I am still waiting for an answer I can understand.(Not that Billy was vague) Billy, stated, humbly that at school he was a role model, but after school, off grounds, thoughts and perceptions changed, again not Billy's!!
The Triple A Student title goes only to the deserving on and off the playing field. Having an unusually quiet demeanor could be considered deceptive if it were intentional. Truth be told, you cannot change what you were born with!! Apparently, all that was required to alter Billy's personality from quiet, mild mannered honor student to grid iron monster was a change of clothes. It was this interest in Art and Academic excellence that propelled Billy to seek an education from (Black Hills State).  Adept with his hands and mind, Billy's talent garnered him additional continuing attention in the Arts as well. Masterfully equipped and skilled in all mediums, Billy's proficiency with paints, oils and acrylic prove without question the creative tenor and direction Billy's mind possess. For those of us privileged enough to know Billy, the direct dichotomy revealed as this "MONSTER" of a man walks in a Art Gallery, or an athletic arena is almost humorous. Stencils and Pottery normally require the suppleness embodied in the hands of individuals diametrically opposed to combat. It should come as no surprise, when considered, that the grace and deftness required to perform at a record holding level in shot and discus would also lend themselves to sensitivity with a paint brush or a lump of clay. While all this speaks of an extremely deep individual, we haven't plumbed his depths yet, the life ring is about to be thrown, so hold on. Common thought today, de-cry's the union of Arts and Athletics, and on one level (a very shallow one) that's fine, but what is the establishment going to do when so much obvious talent is present in one person, Especially, one of Mr. LeRoy's stature? I'll tell you what their going to do, CRINGE. Its all they can do, Billy's talent's continue on into written expression, through poetry, prose, music.
Billy's drive and desire has not changed since High School, but his college career started with an interesting twist. With an inborn disposition to fight only when necessary, Billy was caught off guard and relatively intimidated one night at college party. As the story unfolds, Billy's Ultimate fighting career began in a most unusual way. Little did Billy know at the time, but this party would become an integral turning point in his life. What's the this party, well it turned out to be the very night Billy turned down a challenge from soon to be friend Kevin, who at five feet-nine inches tall was an avid cafe fighter, (all I'll say is there has got to be some less painful way of paying for college). As fate would have it Kevin likes challenges, it seems he had never been beaten by a bigger man. Power was expected, size and other factors all played roles. Billy was admittedly intimidated not wanting to mix it up with a seasoned cage fighter, After the friendship deepened and trust grew, Billy did finally agree to the fight with Kevin, after much coaxing by Kevin and others, it did not exactly end as Kevin had expected: a full six minutes into the bout Kevin still had not had not hit Billy and the fight ended after several pauses to plug Kevin's nose to stop the blood. Fifteen minutes into the fight Kevin surrenders to the obvious, Billy's speed and defense were just too much. This relationship would create contacts within the Underground Fighting ranks where Billy would soon meet Chris. With Kevin staking Billy, a level of success was reached which took care of both them for a while.  As luck or life would have it, issues and contentions would arise, Billy's father and instructors expressed consternation at this prodigy's desire to "work" his way through Art School as a fighter. Obvious concern for Billy's multi-talented hands were the issue. Billy's most memorable fight was with Travis, a Crow Indian. Billy remarked; "It was not that this guy was big or strong, or even especially skilled, it was just he would not stop Travis had heart and a lot of it, Travis would prove to be Billy's ONLY win by decision as that fight went the distance. When questioned about his desire to turn "PRO" and move on from his current position as material handler/packaging specialist he quietly responded; "I want more for my son, Chandler, he is The desire to be the BEST, and the ability to reach it, is only satisfying if you have your priorities right, and this Billy appears to have. The extra money provided by contracts and endorsement would also come in handy, paying for the inevitable hospital stays which can be expected after a fight. Billy commented on the fact that it cost a small fortune just to have a needle stuck in your arm. After his most recent WIN over Igor Vovchanchyn, he had to spend two weeks in the hospital, routine observation and a stubborn blood pressure elevation caused by adrenaline, as well as heredity.
Chandler, its appears is not the only love in Billy's life. Erin, a very talented and brave young lady, choose to look beyond the immediate first impression Billy inadvertently carries, and was able to get in touch with the Artist that is Billy. Irony, as life would have it, is not finished however.
Irony continues to play a huge role in "BAD BOY'S" life. Disappointments come and go, it's easy to observe a mans METTLE by the way he reacts to severe emotional turmoil. It is of no benefit to touch any longer on this issue accept to say: Everyone at HeyWhatEver pity's the individual on the receiving end of any pent up anger "BAD BOY" would happen to find a release valve for in the Ring. Provided there is a competitor, willing to get in the Ring with Billy.

Thanks Billy I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know you!!!
