Playing with words can be a lot of fun if you understand what you are doing. America fell in love with this song some 27 years ago. Yet, some how managed to ignore the depth of the lyrics. Read them for yourself, understand them, then inquire within as to their true meaning. Poignant, emotional, even confrontational these words take on not necessarily a NEW meaning, but one that many would be more inclined to blatantly reject, because it stands in direct opposition to the way we live our lives.
When POP music, confronts us with Eternal Reality, POP Culture has a way of ascribing to it a message they prefer. The masses, will always choose to stay deceived, rather than step into the light. Taken purely as an example of the "intentionally misunderstood", Eye In the Sky, has been besmirched, given a totally inaccurate intellectual essence having had applied to it several socially unacceptable behaviors. Ranging from, spousal abuse, to accusations of it relating to the "Big Brother" type conspiracy, to actually going as far as applying Satanic Attributes to it!
Understanding the value of words, at this point is crucial. As society, comes up against this comment as it probable will, consider this. In 1982, Christianity was a little more socially acceptable than it is now, but still reject-able as something "DESIGNED" to stifle self-expression and the pursuit of pleasure". You can contest all you like, it won't help. But, this might...the only set of Eye's in the Sky, that would care about how your communicating your anger, or what you are doing with furniture, belong to Our Big Brother, and it has NOTHING to do with camera's or spying on society! They are also directly contrary to the "source" given credit for the inspiration of this song. That credit, by the way, would be coming from the audience, not the artist.
You see, once you understand, and accept the words for what they speak to, its easy to see, they speak of Jesus Christ the Creator of Everything, including Music: rather than to Lucifer, a creature who over stepped his authority and forgot that he was just and instrument, NOT the Leader of the Band! If Alan knew at that time, it was impossible to avoid the Gaze, what makes us think we can NOW! Yes, there is a difference between Sublime and subliminal! Allow me to be the first to say, Sublime WINS, hands down!
I won't pretend to assume, if Alan Parson was "the project", but it certainly sounds to me like GOD aint finished with him Yet!
Hey ALAN, Thanks for a GREAT SONG, Fantastic insight, May the ALL SEEING EYE'S continue to bless your growth in HIM!
The "Eye In the Sky" continues to watch ALL that is going! Maybe it time to look up!

MESSAGEMASTERS, 1 year ago | Flag"Eye in the Sky" is a 1982 song by the Alan Parsons Project. Possibly the most successful song the group has ever had, it reached number 3 on the U.S. Billboard charts. However, it did not fare very well in the UK.
The song is in part a reference to George Orwell's classic novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, regarding a possible future in which individual privacy is virtually non-existent due to the ever-watching eye of Big Brother. In the novel, citizens are constantly monitored by satellites and hidden video recording equipment. [1] [2]
It has also been noted by Eric Woolfson, the songwriter and vocalist of this song, spent a lot of time in casinos and in commercial districts, fascinated by the hidden security cameras that monitor gamblers and shoppers, hence the theme of the song. See "Eye in the Sky."[2]
The 1:54 minute instrumental piece entitled Sirius immediately precedes Eye in the Sky on the original recording, which then seamlessly leads into Eye in the Sky as a second track. However, most radio stations choose to play Eye in the Sky alone, due to time constraints.
Dont think sorrys easily said
Dont try turning tables instead
Youve taken lots of chances before
But Im not gonna give anymore
Dont ask me
Thats how it goes
Cause part of me knows what youre thinkin
Dont say words youre gonna regret
Dont let the fire rush to your head
Ive heard the accusation before
And I aint gonna take any more
Believe me
The sun in your eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing
Chorus:
I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I dont need to see any more
To know that
I can read your mind, I can read your mind
Dont leave false illusions behind
Dont cry cause I aint chnaging my mind
So find another fool like before
Cause I aint gonna live anymore believing
Some of the lies while all of the signs are deceiving
